The Kantai Collection version of the Italian Regia Marina battleship [i]Littorio[/i]. Name and lead ship of the [i]Littorio-class[/i] battleships. Named after the "lictor,":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lictor which was the bearer of the "fasces":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces that was both symbol of Italian-style Fascism, as well as its namesake. In real history, she was renamed the [i]Italia[/i] after Benito Mussolini fell from power, but her rename comes with her kai in-game. Littorio has a notable similarity in appearance to Tomoe Mami of Madoka fame. Considering that her official artist, Jiji (aardvark), has drawn several works with Mami in the past, this may not be a coincidence. She has long, wavy brown hair in a ponytail that is swept over her shoulder, and brown eyes. She wears a white sleeveless shirt with additional detached sleeves, a red necktie, and her waist is covered in armor with anchors hanging down. She wears a red pleated skirt, and white thighhighs with red candy-stripes held up by garter straps. On her head is a white armored headdress. Her combat gear includes a "split hull" design not unlike Yamato's, with three large triple-cannon turrets hanging over her shoulders. The only difference between her Littorio and Italia forms is that Littorio has white-and-red-striped decks, while Italia has steel gray decks. Her summer seasonal CG features her wearing a red two-piece swimsuit, a pareo and an hibiscus in her hair. She holds a drink and two of her main turrets are propped to her upper arms. She also has a Christmas seasonal CG where she is wearing a "sexy Santa" dress with a striped scarf, a sprig of mistletoe in her hair and a Santa hat under her headdress. She is holding a sack and a snowman resembling Roma is standing beside her. When damaged, the snowman is reduced to a puddle. Those seasonal CG are shared with her Italia form with minute differences. Historically, she participated in sorties against Malta convoys and in escort of Italian convoys to Libya from summer 1940 to June 1942, but was rarely ever used after middle 1942 due to the severe Italian oil shortages. She was torpedoed while at harbor by the British in the "Attack on Taranto,":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Taranto but managed to survive. She was also damaged by a Luftwaffe guided bomb while sailing towards Malta after the Italian Armistice, when Roma was sunk. Ultimately, she was assigned as a war prize to the United States, who didn't retire her and relinquished all rights to her on 5 October 1947, with the obligation to demilitarise her. This was delayed, but in June 1948 the armistice commission ordered that the main guns be cut with torches and reduction gears smashed with sledgehammers. She was sold to the breakers on 7 December 1951, dismantling was completed by 1954. h4. See also * Roma (kancolle) - fourth Littorio-class battleship h4.
