A type of [[drum]] mounted on a stick, with two rods or beads on strings attached to the body. When rotated rapidly on its axis, the pellets fly out and strike the membranes, causing it to sound. The Japanese version is called denden daiko. It is used in religious rituals, as a noisemaker during festivals, and as a child's toy. h4.
