One of [[Sonic the Hedgehog]]'s rivals who first appears in [i][[Sonic Adventure 2]][/i]. Also known as The Ultimate Life Form. He is a black hedgehog who was created by Gerald Robotnik 50 years prior and befriends [[Maria Robotnik]]. Shadow has a distant personality due to his past, but has gained independence from it and will not tolerate wrongdoings against those he cares for. In his debut in Sonic Adventure 2 he introduced the ability of Chaos Control; which allows the user instant teleportation. He wears hover shoes which help grant him the same level of speed as his rival Sonic, and has an immensely high rate of power increase when dispersing the inhibitor rings on both wrists and ankles. Shadow bears a striking resemblance to Sonic The Hedgehog, except for a few differences. He's also the second most popular character in the series. His [[voice actor]] is [[Yusa Kouji|Yusa Kōji]].
