Subsonic jet trainer in use by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It seats a crew of two in tandem, has shallowly-swept wings with small mid-span sawtooth leading edges, "tricycle landing gear":en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tricycle_gear, and is powered by two turbofans exhausting under the all-moving tailplanes. It bears a resemblance to the Franco-German "Alpha Jet":en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dassault_Breguet_Dornier_Alpha_Jet, but its widely spaced engines give it a beefier appearance. Two underwing hardpoints enable it to carry bombs, rockets, and a special air-sampling pod developed by Kawasaki.
