An American high-speed, high-altitude reconnaissance [[aircraft]] built by Lockheed in the 1960s. With its blue-black paint job, full-length chines "[1]":[#dtext-external-links], long shock cone inlets and inward-canted tailfins (design consequences of an early attempt at stealth), the [b]SR-71 Blackbird[/b] has one of the most distinctive silhouettes of any aircraft. Goes really, really fast (up to Mach 3.3) and is considered the fastest air-breathing manned [[military]] [[aircraft]] (but it is NOT a [[fighter jet]]). h4.
