A major supporting character in the anime/manga [[Naruto]]. She is a [[kunoichi]] from Konohagakure and one of the legendary Sannin, together with [[Jiraiya]] and [[Orochimaru]], all of whom trained under The Third Hokage, [[Sarutobi_Hiruzen]]. She is considered the best and strongest healer/medical-nin in the ninja world, but she's also a compulsive gambler that has no luck which earned her the nickname, "Legendary Sucker." Her first love was named [[Dan_Kato]], but after his death, she developed a phobia for blood. After the repeated loss of her loved ones including her brother, she chose to abandon the life of a shinobi for many years. Eventually she took his niece, [[Shizune]], as her apprentice, and they traveled the world together while honing her skills. After encountering [[Uzumaki_Naruto]], she overcomes her phobia and returns to Konoha village, becoming the Fifth [[Hokage]]. Later on, she takes [[Sakura_Haruno]] as her second apprentice, teaching her medical ninjutsu that proves invaluable especially during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Although she is already over 50 years old, she is able to look younger thanks to a special ninjutsu she developed herself.
