A species of [[rhinoceros beetle]], and the longest species of beetle in the world. Male hercules beetles have a gigantic horn on their prothorax, as well as immense strength for their size. Males have black bodies, outside their elytra (wing cases), which are shades of olive-green with black spots and are divided by a black suture. Females lack the species' characteristic horns, and are mostly black outside a quarter of the elytra, which may have the same color pattern as males. Updated by bot Sun, Sep 18 '22, 02:55 |
