The seventh game in the [i][[Dragon Quest]][/i] series, and the first to appear on a non-[[Nintendo]] console (the [[PlayStation]]). It was released in 2000 in Japan, with an English version published in North America a year later. An enhanced remake for the [[Nintendo 3DS]] was published in Japan in 2013. It was the first game in the series to be released in America since [[Dragon Quest IV|the fourth]], and it would be the last to be released in that market under the [i]Dragon Warrior[/i] title.
