Goku is not human, but actually [[Saiyan]] (from planet Vegeta). Capable of several different transformations including [[Kaiouken]], [[Super Saiyan]] [[Super Saiyan 1|1]], [[Super Saiyan 2]], [[Super Saiyan 3]], [[Super Saiyan 4]], [[Super Saiyan God]], [[Super Saiyan Blue]] and, ultimately, [[Ultra Instinct]]. His Saiyan name is "Kakarot", which is how [[Vegeta]] addresses him throughout the anime and manga. Some of his signature techniques are the [[Kamehameha]] and the [[Genki Dama]].

He is loosely based on [[Sun Wukong]] of the classical Chinese novel [i][[Journey to the West]][/i], whose name is translated as Son Gokuu in Japanese.

Goku's Japanese seiyuu is [[Nozawa Masako]], while the current English dub voice actor is Sean Schemmel, though the character has gone through many different dub voice changes in the past.
