A surfboard leash is a cord that fastens to the tail of the [[surfboard]] and connects to a cuff worn on the ankle of the surfer. This is to prevent the surfboard from being swept away by waves and stops runaway surfboards from hitting other surfers and swimmers. This tag may also be used for bodyboard leashes. These leashes are similar to surfboard leashes, but are fasten to the front end of the [[bodyboard]] and connect to a cuff worn on the wrist or bicep of the bodyboarder.
