The flag known as the confederate flag is the naval jack of the [[Confederate States of America]]. Contrary to belief, it was never used as the national flag. Also mistakenly called Stars and Bars, that pertains to the first flag of the Confederate States. A square version of the naval jack is the land battle flag of the Confederate States. In modern days, the flags is associated with white supremacy and [[racism]] in a similar vein to the [[Nazi flag]].
