A form of transport where a vehicle, the [i]car[/i], runs suspended under a flexible cable or rope. The passengers are inside an enclosed cabin. Contrast with [[chairlift]], which has open chairs for passengers; and [[suspension railway]], which runs on a fixed track rather than a flexible cable.
