In the universe of Ego Trigger, there are widespread anomalies called Egos which are a physical manifestation of an individual’s character that grant certain abilities based on the form they take. Egos can take almost any form as long as it falls into one of seven categories: Beast, Creature, Race, Construct, Manipulation, Element, or Occupation, but they are not necessarily unique to an individual either. They are so common as to be considered as natural as eating or breathing.

Egos typically develop around puberty and are trained like any other skill until their strengths and abilities are understood by their user. Egos must be exercised daily like a muscle. Overuse can lead to uncontrolled release of one’s Ego, while underuse can lead to becoming a hollow shell of yourself.

Because Egos are linked to one’s character, a person must become attuned to themselves to trigger their Ego. Coming to terms with oneself is the universal “Trigger”. Individuals who have personal doubts or anxiety about others’ opinions about them can only activate their Ego through their personal “Assist Triggers”. Assist Triggers are also based on one’s character and are typically some sort of action closely associated with one’s daily life or hobbies.
