An operator (derived from special operations forces) is any individual serving with a special forces unit or government operation. Tag images with operator that contain an operator or group of operators armed with "tactical" firearms (which consist of prototype or high-tech weapons, especially those with the various mounted accessories such as laser, red dot, and optical sights and/or silencers), wearing tactical equipment (ghillie suits, camouflage paint, vests, helmets, night vision devices, radios).

Certain special-forces groups, such as the American Green Berets, Russian Spetsnaz, and Russian VDV, can be distinguished by colored berets. These are, respectively, green berets, red berets, and blue berets.
