The girls in the MK universe are kind of lucky that nobody with mind control powers turned out to be a creep. As evil, brutal and manipulative as some bad guys in those games are, they were never predators or sex offenders. Well until we get to 11 where pretty much everyone horny.

Well, Shang Tsung was always quite a creep, not only because he tailed Sonya or Kitana but he also designed Mileena. And I aint so sure, but Onaga didnt have Li Mei under control?

I think I can explain the Shang Tsung thing. Him perving on Sonya was mostly from the movie and it was likely a nod to Big Trouble in Little China where an old wizard turned young was kind of hitting on this American chick on top of wanting to marry some other girl. That was also the movie where Raiden got his look from. Shang Tsung made Mileena by order of Shao Kahn and unlike the new timeline, she actually grew up with Kitana so it was never a fully naked horny chick in bandages. I think the Li Mei was more of negative influence or corruption from when her soul was in one of the mummified soldiers. Since they were loyal to him, so was she kinda. But that ending was non-canon anyway. It is kind of a stretch to think she could single-handedly hold off all the people that want to take a swipe at Onaga long enough for him to do what he needs to.

Yeah, him tailing Sonya is from the movie although it's referenced in the games (cool nod). didnt know that Mileena grew up on the midway era with Kitana, Li Mei ending up as a baddie seems to be canon on that era tho since she fights for the forces of darkness on Armageddon (apparently gets killed by Hotaru on the intro). but speaking about non-canon endings, the most creepy thing I remember about Shang is him making Shao Kahn a centaur slave on his ending on the same game, it aint canon but really f#*kd up, that game had some of the weirdest endings on the series though.

I kinda recall Li Mei dying almost instantly at the start of Armageddon, impaled by Hotaru which is usually a bad guy who sided with Onaga during Deception since his plan would effectively bring order. The dude is the epitome of lawful evil.

Ooh Hotaru was evil? Ah then I was wrong, I always wondered why Johnny, Sonya, Jax and Kitana came back just fine from the mind controlling and not Li Mei, guess I wasnt correct.

Well they did make Li Mei just some bad guy in that animated movie. They could have had Skarlet, Sheeva, Mileena, Kira or anyone actually bad in her place but I guess someone in charge just really wanted to watch her get pwned.

Yeah, the new movies are promoting midway characters, Li mei lasted like 10 seconds before dying tho lol. Johnny fuxsking Nitara for being a rude bitch when btw

What I do never got was if they want to have characters there only to be killed off, why not use characters people actually want to see bite it or guys that no one likes? Hardly anyone ever sheds a tear when Kobra, Jarek or Hsu Hao dies and yet they pass up the opportunity to use them as disposable bad guys. Quan Chi probably is the one of the few examples of a truly satisfying death because love him or hate him, he really is an evil prick that got what he deserved.

It's just fan service for midway characters ppl actually like so they see the movie, like, ppl wouldnt get soooo hyped if Hsu Hao or Mavado got announced. I agree they should use these characters as disposable bad guys, I mean I get it if they kill Nitara or Li Mei but at least give them a proper fight scene, the only one who got this so far is when Reiko held his own against Raiden.
