Sega's final video game home console produced for the sixth-generation market of consoles. It was released in November 1998 in Japan and later in September 1999 in other territories. Sega ultimately had to withdraw from the console market when it couldn't compete against Sony's Playstation 2 and Nintendo's Gamecube, instead sticking to producing games. The company discontinued the Dreamcast in North America early in March 2001, but support for the system continued in Europe and Oceania until the end of 2002. In Japan consoles were still sold until 2007 and new licensed games continued to be released some time later. 10.6 million units were sold worldwide, as of 2002. The [b]Dreamcast[/b] is still fondly remembered for several revolutionary games and pioneering home console online gaming. h4.See also * Tag Group:Video Game * VMU Updated by bot Sun, Sep 18 '22, 02:56 |
