A translucent and colorless powder derived from collagens inside animal skin and bones. It is added to water to firm it up and provide texture, and tends to jiggle if moved around.
This tag mostly refers to the jello dessert, although it can be used in cooking and is referred to as aspic.
A similar food product derived from red algae is called "agar":en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agar jelly. It is commonly used in the Japanese dessert anmitsu_(dessert)|anmitsu.
