Oboro was the leader of the Tensho School during the absent of the founder, Utsuro_(Gintama), and also the strongest assassin within the Tenshouin Naraku branch. He reappears as a major antagonist in the series following his introduction in the Courtesan of a Nation Arc.

Oboro's most remarkable physical trait is the long scar across his face he received during childhood. The dark circles|eye_bags around his eyes seem to be due to his anemia. He has light-gray wavy_hair and grey_eyes.

He is completely loyal to Utsuro, due to the former Naraku leader saving his life in the past, and considered himself to be his disciple as well as the first student of Yoshida_Shouyo.
