Uchouten Kazoku (有頂天家族), The Eccentric Family is a novel by Tomihiko morimi, (author of yojouhan_shinwa_taikei). It was adapted into an anime in 2013.

The story takes place in modern-day Kyoto, a city that has been populated by groups of tanuki and tengu for years, living alongside humans who are oblivious to their existence. The story surrounds a family of tanuki, the Shimogamo family. They have the ability to transform into anything they wish, from humans to any animate/inanimate object.

shimogamo_yasaburo is the third son of the Shimogamo family, who spends his carefree days taking care of an old tengu, observing humans through his ability to shapeshift, and dealing with the mysterious woman named Benten.
