Shimakaze (島風, lit. "Island Wind") is the personification of the Japanese destroyer Shimakaze in Kantai Collection.
Character design by Shizuma Yoshinori, voiced by Sakura Ayane.

h4. Appearance
Shimakaze has long_hair|long blonde hair and grey eyes. She wears a crop top|cropped serafuku, striped legwear|striped thighhighs, white_gloves|white elbow gloves, a short miniskirt with black_panties|black highleg panties, and a black hairband with long floppy "ears". She has small robot familiars called Rensouhou-chans which represent her three twin "12.7 cm/50 naval gun":en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12.7_cm/50_Type_3_naval_gun turrets.

h4. Personality
As she is based on an experimental destroyer built around speed and heavy torpedo armaments, Shimakaze sports a boastful personality, occasionally bragging about how fast she is and nitpick on how "slow" those around her is. While the historical ship is the fastest bluewater ship in the IJN fleet, she is not the fastest destroyer in the game after the inclusion of Tashkent (kantai_collection)| around 2018. After this, Shimakaze is often depicted in fan works as either losing her confidence or viewed Tashkent as a rival she swore to surpass.

Due to her admittedly distinctive and revealing outfit, she has become one of the most popular character of the series, with several artists often drawing the other character cosplay as her, she is also is frequently portrayed as an otoko no ko (Shimakaze-kun) or as an unrelated boy crossdressing as her.

Her fan-nickname is "ぜかまし":www.pixiv.net/search.php?...3%81%8B%E3%81%BE%E3%81%97 (Zekamashi, Shimakaze spelled backwards (due to pre-1946 Japanese orthography treating horizontal writing as one-line verticals and therefore meant to be read right-left)) after it was written on an innertube on a Rensouhou-chan.
