Barazoku is a Japanese word that translates to "pink tribe" or "gay". It was the name of the first Japanese gay magazine, which was published from 1971 to 2008.
The magazine was the first in Asia for gay men and the longest-running monthly magazine for gay men in Japan.
It was published in the typical format of Japanese magazines, with articles, short stories, advice, interviews, news, and a classifieds section. The magazine also published anonymous work by some of Japan's most famous poets and authors

The term "barazoku" was once common in the Japanese gay community, but has since gone out of fashion. It has been replaced by terms like "gachimuchi. But here in the western the name “barazoku” or more commonly refereed to as “bara” is still commonly used.
