Twerking is a style of sexually provocative dancing where an individual thrusts (thrusting), gyrates and jerks their hips to make their butt cheeks jiggle, bounce and collide. The dance often leads to the butt cheeks slapping together, resulting in an audible "clapping" sound, and causes the butt to jiggle (butt_jiggle)

This dance is most often performed while in a crouching pose, with the butt stuck out; but twerking can also be performed while bent_over, on all_fours, ass_up, doing splits, or even upside-down, while braced against a wall. Twerking is typically associated with dance music, strip clubs, and particularly with hip hop/rap culture, where the style originated. Twerking can also be done while performing a lapdance or as foreplay.
