A [[Nickelodeon]] [[animated]] [[cartoon]] created by Brian Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. [h4]Synopsis[/h4] The story follows a world divided into four nations: the [[Water_Tribe]], [[Earth_Kingdom]], [[Fire_Nation]], and [[Air_Nomad]]s. Each nation is represented by a natural element for which the nation is named. Benders of those elements have the ability to control and manipulate the element from their nation. Only the Avatar is the master of all four elements which they can bend. The Fire Nation wants to conquer the world and the only one who can stop them, the Avatar, has disappeared. 100 years have passed, Sokka and Katara discover that Aang is the long-lost Avatar and join him on a journey to master all four elements and bring balance to the world. The story is set in a world primarily influenced by Eastern culture and mythology (as well as Inuit), revolving around the reincarnations of the titular Avatar. Its sequel is [[The_Legend_of_Korra]]. Not to be confused with the 2009 film of the same name, [[Avatar]] movie by James Cameron.
