A character from the [[Transformers]] science fiction franchise. [b]Whirl[/b] is an heroic [[Autobot]], a sentient [[alien]] [[robot]] that can transform into a futuristic looking blue combat [[helicopter]]. His original toy is based on a variable [[mecha]] called [b]VH-64 MR [[Oberon Gazzette]][/b] from the [[Tokusou Kihei Dorvack]] science fiction anime series from the [[1980s (style)|]]. He was among those Transformers toys that did not appear in the first animated series because the show was going to appear in Japan, where the toy was owned by Takara's rivals. While his holographic avatar in the [[The Transformers (idw)|IDW comics]] was female, the first female version of the character appeared in [[Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy|Rescue Bots Academy]].
