h4. Appearance
Shinshuu Maru has long_hair|long brown hair tied into twin_braids|a pair of braids and large breasts. She wears a black capelet|black hooded capelet worn over a black dress and black footwear|black boots. She is typically depicted with the hood up. Her machinery consists of a crane and a large ship deck with several smaller ships attached.

Her hooded appearance has led to some similarities with the later-released Sakamata Chloe, as both were drawn by the same artist.

h4. Personality and history
While coming off as somewhat laid back, she does seem to bear a grudge against mogami (kancolle)|Mogami, whose torpedoes accidentally struck Shinshuu Maru during the "Battle of Sunda Strait":[en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Sunda_Strait] while engaging Houston (Kancolle)| and Perth (Kancolle)|, sinking Shinshuu Maru in the process (she was later salvaged and brought back into service). For decades, Fubuki (Kancolle)| was mistakenly blamed for the act before new research pointed to Mogami instead.

The historical ship was commissioned on 15 November 1934 and sunk (for the second and final time) on 3 January 1945 by air attack.
